PC-Monitor provides an alert mechanism to allow console users to receive real-time alerts when predefined rules are hit in agent computers. To add or edit rules, select the target group or computer and select Show->Alert Rules. Events can trigger alerts include change of computer, name, change of IP address, change of Network MAC, change of hardware, change of software, change of system time, running specified applications, browsing specified web sites and performing specified file operations.
To set rules for sending alerts when specified applications run, select Alert when specified applications launch checkbox. If you want to trace specified applications only, you can select include radio box and then enter the filename of executable file of specified applications and when specified applications is run in agent computer, alert will be sent. On the other hand, if you select exclude radio box, when applications other than those applications specified in the application list launch, alert will be sent.
Please use “;” to separate applications. Also you may use wildcard characters “*” and “?” in the application list.
“*” means one or more characters.
e.g. win*.exe matches winrar.exe and winzip32.exe;
“?” means any one character.
e.g. note?ad.exe matches notepad.exe.
To set rules for sending alerts when agent browses specified web sites, tick Alert when specified web sites are browsed. If you want to trace specified web sites only, you can select include radio box and then enter the specified web sites and when those web sites are browsed in agent computer, alert will be sent. On the other hand, if you select exclude radio box, when web sites other than those web sites specified in the web sites list are browsed, alert will be sent.

File operation can also trigger alerts. To set rules for sending alerts when specified file operations occur, tick Alert when specified file operations occur.
To add a new file operation alert rule, click Add button and the following window will be prompted.
You can select the type of file operation, storage type where files locate and specified filename. You may use wildcard characters “*” and “?” to define the filename.
To edit an existing file operation, select the required operation and click Edit.
To delete an existing file operation, select the required operation and click Delete.
After setting rules, please remember to press Save button to save the rules and the alert rules will be applied to the target computer(s). You may press Retrieve button to reload the previous settings.
When the specified rules are hit in agent computers, The alert message will be popped up in the all active consoles.
If no active console is found , the alert messages will be sent to the console user who has Get email report right.
You can also view the alert record in event log.
